Mon Repos Palace
Mon Repo is a large area just outside of Hotel Arion. The area hosts the summer villa/palace built by Thomas Maitland as a gift to his greek wife Nina Palatianou. The palace has many colonial architecture elements. Throughout the years it has been the summer resort of various personalities such as the empress of Austria Elisabeth, Kind George A’ (who also named the area Mon Repos) as well as the greek royal family up to the year 1967 after which the estate’s possesion was transfered to the Municipality of Corfu.
The whole area can be considered to be a large garden covered in green landscape. Within it you can find a wonderful collection of plants from around the globe and the ruins of Paleopolis (the ancient city of Corfu island). The ancient relics discovered in the region are housed in the first floor of Mon Repos palace.

Kanoni/Pontikonisi
The most famous spot in Corfu and one of the most photographed on the entire island. The tour in the area can start from Kanoni where you have many options of cafeterias which provide splendid views of the Monastery of Vlacherna and Pontikonisi. The aiport runway is located within a few hundred meters and you will most propably have the chance to witness a take off of an airplane. By taking the steps down the hill you will be able to explore the 17th century chapel or take one of the frequently departing fishing boats to visit the legendary Mouse Island. A lush green tiny island (hence it’s name), on top of which there is another 13th century church (church of Pantokrator) which celebrates on August 6th. If you are in Corfu during this time you will also have the chance of experiencing the local folk festival due to the church’s celebration on that day.

Iasonas & Sosipatros Byzantine Church
One of the most historical landmarks in Corfu Island and located within walking distance (around 250m) from Arion Hotel. The church has been standing there since the 9th century. It was built by craftsmen from Boeotia region in Attica and it is dedicated to Saints Iasonas and Sosipatros who were among the first to preach about Christianity in Corfu, their tombs are also located there.

Monastery of Panagia Kassopitra
The Kassopitra Monastery is one of the most beautiful and most important places of pilgrimage on the island. It is located in the Phigareto area of Kanoni in a verdant area and it’s construction is estimated in the year 1530. It hosts a large number of remains of various saints as well as part of the True Cross.

Kardaki
This is a small haven within Mon Repos estate. Being so close to the city centre and providing such a sense of tranquility it is preferred by many locals as a place for a quick getaway from the daily routine. The lush green landscape surrounding the beach as well as the absence of buildings in the area will provide a unique experience and make the visit worthwhile.

Royal Baths Mon Repos
Another option to go swimming and relax by the sea within walking distance from our hotel. The area is ideal for children as it is organised and the depth of the water is moderate. The beach bar & restaurant located there has been rennovated quite recently. You have the option of getting a sunbed to relax in the shade during the day or dine in the restaurant at night.

Spianada
Spianada square is the area between the old Corfu town and the old fortess. It is one of the most iconic and popular places in Corfu town among visitors and it is used as a meeting point for many social gatherings among locals. The points of interest around the area are numerous, starting from the northern part with the palace of St. Michael & George which also house the museum of Asian Art. Moving on you will be amazed by the Liston area with it’s characteristic arches. Last but not least there is the Old Fortess which surrounded the entire city during the medieval period.
